DevOps with AWS

One of the distinct advantages of devOps philosophy as implemented using AWS is the ability to rapidly kick out a new service. The new template-match API is a good example. Knowing the algorithm, I was able to quickly pull something together from the p2t C++ library, an example input image attached. The algorithm determines where in the image a particular (user supplied) template occurs, returning the x,y location and some measure of confidence. Here a user may be interested in (for instance) the location of wells in a map. The algorithm once developed was easily deployed as an AWS Lambda function and wrapped by the API Gateway, for a REST interface. Within the space of less than two weeks I was able to follow this procedure for roughly twenty APIs. Hard to conceive of a better development cycle 🙂
